A Guide to Purchasing Traditional Wear for Kids

Kids love dressing up as much as adults do. You may have noticed your children trying on your sarees and your tie to be more like you. One way to make your kids feel on par with you is purchasing some traditional clothes of their own. Before you make the purchase, however, keep these things in mind:

Choose the right outfit: Kids are bound to look great in anything you dress them up in. If you are considering getting a traditional outfit for your kids, make sure you know what to purchase so that your child doesn’t end up buried under layers of clothing. Avoid opting for a saree for your daughter and instead go for a lehenga that is light enough for kids to carry. While choosing an outfit for your son, you can choose a kids kurta or even a sherwanis.

Look for a size bigger: Since kids tend to grow faster, choosing apparels that are a snug fit can backfire more often than not. Try to find outfits that are at least one size bigger. If you think you can get an even bigger size and alter it, leaving some cloth to adjust it once you child grows, you can save a lot of money too. With the opportunity to flaunt a traditional outfit being rare, purchasing something that even be used over the next few years is certainly a wise decision.

Accessorize: Kids love accessories. There is absolutely no doubt about it. Be it a cluster of bangles, a pendant chain for men to pair with their kids sherwanis and kurtas, or even some traditional brooches, you can mix and match with a number of outfits to add some chunky jewellery and bling to their ensemble.

One thing to remember while shopping for kids is to take them along with you and allow them to make a choice as well. After all, with the stubbornness most kids are born with, you would rather buy something they like enough to wear than get something that would be shoved in the back of the closet, never to see the light of day.
